JNCASR is a place of nurturing Science among young students. Besides, hosting student programmes leading to Ph.D., a number of outreach activities are conducted especially, for aspiring students. Given the green and serene surroundings of the campus it is indeed a place of pilgrimage for a seeker of Truth. Eminent scientists from around the globe use this as an international hub. Several dignitaries have visited JNC in the past. These include Professor David Gross (Nobel Laureate in Physics), Professor Watson (Nobel laureate in Chemistry), Professor Ahmed Zewail (Nobel Laureate in Chemistry) and Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam (Former President of India)

Every year National Science Day is celebrated on February 28, the day when the Raman Effect was discovered by Sir C. V. Raman. The programme consists of lectures, experimental demonstrations and interactive sessions by the faculty of the Centre. About 100 school children participate in the programme every year.
