I am a graduate student working in the Molecular Simulations Group (MSG) of Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR). MSG, headed by Prof. S. Balasubramanian, is a part of Chemistry & Physics of Materials Unit (CPMU). Research groups in CPMU perform real experiments to synthesize and characterize variety of materials ranging from nanocrystals, carbon nanotubes to framework solids. On contrary, the researchers in MSG carry out in silico experiments to understand and predict material properties. For freshers : the word "in silico" is a fancy name for computer simulation.
