Molecular & Materials : New Directions
4-6, December 2008
An International Conference...
Venue:Conference Hall, Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientisfic Research, Jakkur Bangalore 560064
The scope of the conference is to provide a platform to interact with active reserachers around the globe working in diverse and interdisciplinary areas such as nanomaterials, oxides, carbon based materials, molecular and hybrid materials, novel methods of synthesis, structure, property and phenomenon, pattering and device fabrication besides new computational and theoretical approaches.
The materials research in the country in particular related to molecular and new materials is taking shape since the last decade. With the expertise available in the solid state physics, solid state chemistry, metallurgy, surface science and instrumentation, it was but natural to converge into the present day Materials research, as has been the trend the world over. Thus, there are 30-40 active groups- at JNCASR, IISc, IITs, DRDO labs, CSIR labs and as well as in many universities, contributing to various sub-disciplines of Materials. It is important that these active researchers come face to face with researchers from different parts of the globe to learn and exchange ideas as well as establish collaborative links. The proposed international conference is an ideal platform for this purpose. The proposed subject gains further relevance and importance due to the upcoming field of nanotechnology based on new materials.
A felicitation event in honour of Prof. C.N.R. Rao, our most distinguished colleague who will be turning 75 this year, is planned during the conference.
