UKIERI Posdoctoral Position

A postdoctoral position is available at JNCASR for conducting research focused on the role of entropy and information encoding in guided self assembly, including investigations of protocol dependence of granular entropy in jammed matter and probabilities of generating target self-assembling structures. The expected duration of the position is two years and the position is expected to be available by the end of the summer 2017. The position is part of a joint project supported by the UK-India Education and Research Initiative (UKIERI), between Srikanth Sastry (JNCASR) and Daan Frenkel (Cambridge). Further details of ongoing research at JNCASR may be found at and about the planned research by email inquiry. Suitable candidates are expected to have interests broadly in statistical mechanics, soft matter and condensed matter physics, with experience in computational investigations in these fields. In particular, strong skills in Monte Carlo and free energy methods will be an asset.

Applications including a CV, a list of publications, a brief description of past research and future interests should be sent by email to Applicants are expected to either have a PhD  (Physics, Chemistry or allied disciplines) or are expected to complete degree requirements in the very near future. Applicants should also arrange for two letters of recommendation to be sent directly to the same address. Review of applications will be taken up by the end of June 2017, and will continue till the position is filled.
