Reaching JNCASR
From the Guesthouses to JNCASR:
If you are staying at the RRI/NIAS guest house, a car/minibus will pick you up and bring you to the summer school venue; the trip will take about half an hour. If you miss the car or are otherwise stranded, walk/take an auto-rickshaw to the JNC bus stop inside the campus of the Indian Institute of Science (see here for bus timings). You can also take an auto/call taxi directly to JNCASR.
If you are staying at Jawahar Guest House / JNC Guest Rooms / Hoysala Guest House, walk over to the JNC bus stop on the campus of the Indian Institute of Science (on the road connecting the library to the Organic Chemistry building). Click here to see the location of the bus stop. For the bus schedule see here. If you have missed the bus or are otherwise stranded, you can take the regular JNC bus (a big yellow bus; click here for timings); however, note that if the bus is full, then priority will be given to regular JNC employees and students.
You can also take an auto-rickshaw (cost about Rs. 70), tell the auto-rickshaw driver that you want to go to Jakkur; see here for detailed directions. Or you can take a bus to Bytaranyapura (you can come to Mekhri Circle, take any Yelahanka bound BMTC bus and get down at Bytaranyapura; you will see a shopping complex "BIG MARKET" on your left, which means you are about 200 meters from Byatarayanapura) and then an auto-rickshaw (from where you get down from the bus you need to cross the road and walk ahead towards Yelahanka, say about 50m, you will find the auto stand; it will cost you Rs. 20 only); see here for directions.
Reaching the City/Guest Houses from JNCASR:
If you do not choose to take the transport provided by us, it can be quite difficult to reach the city and guest houses. You can take the JNC bus to IISc (the Indian Institute of Science) if there is place available, but note that priority will be given to regular JNC employees and students. Otherwise, you can walk to Byataranyapura and take an auto-rickshaw/bus, or call for a City Taxi
