Histone chaperone activates chromatin transcription in an acetylation dependent manner

Prof. Tapas Kundu's group is working on the mechanism of transcription regulation through chromatin in humans, with special reference to diseases. The present areas of interest are

* The regulation of p53 function by nonhistone chromatin associated proteins,

* Role of higher order chromatin structure and histone chaperones in transcription regulation,

* Functional genomics of transcriptional coactivators,

* Small molecule modulators of histone modifying enzymes, which may serve as lead compounds for the treatment of asthma, cardiac hypertrophy, AIDS, and cancer.
