Maps and Directions
- Getting along in Bangalore: Kannada is the official language. English, Hindi and Tamil are also widely known. You can get along with Taxi/Autorickshaw drivers with any of these languages.
- Reaching the Guest houses
All the guest houses are located in the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) campus. IISc is locally referred to as "Tata Institute". The auto/taxi driver would recognize this name more readily than the official one (IISc).From the airport, one can hire a taxi from the Karnataka state tourism development corporation (KSTDC) office situated in the airport lounge. A trip to IISc would cost you about Rs. 250. A ride to IISc in an autorickshaw would cost about Rs. 35 from the Railway station. You can engage the autorickshaw from the prepaid counter manned by a traffic constable at the railway station.
JNC guest house: The JNC guest house is situated ~ 1 Km down the road leading to the "main gate" of IISc at the Prof. C. N. R. Rao circle and is attached to the JNC president's house. The IISc guest house is opposite the JNC guest house (about two minutes walk). Please take a right turn at the road leading away from the JNC President's house. The Jawahar guest house is situated on the Gymkhana campus of IISc. The Gymkhana campus is in between the Prof. C. N. R. Rao circle (the main gate) and the Yeshwanthpur circle. Once inside the gymkhana campus, take a right turn. The guest house is at the end of the road.
Please note that all the speakers will be recieved at the airport/raiway station by volunteers. For details, click here.
