This page shows the results of benchmarking of kamadhenu
and comparison-data with another similarly powered shared memory machine
(hp3) :
TCP/IP test:
Ping - pong test
This is the classic latency and bandwidth testing tool for clusters such as kamadhenu: it basically "pings" between two nodes and measures the latency of response and the bandwidth of data transfer for various packet sizes.Performance in Molecular Dynamics simulation code of 5000 water molecules (source) for 100 time-steps and various number of processors. Results:
Average latency measured 200 microseconds. Average bandwidth measured 9.8 Megabytes per second. After applying Josip Loncaric's TCP patch for kernel 2.2.14-50, the results improved as follows:
Average latency measured 180 microseconds Average bandwidth measured 10.0 Megabytes per second.
Results:
Comparison with hp3: the
3 processor shared memory machine, the latest in JNC stable.
Results:
The following table shows the comparison chart of wall-clock timed performance for the same Molecular Dynamics code of 5000 water molecules (source). The machine we compared kamadhenu with, is a K260 EG @180 MHz, 3 processor shared memory Hewlett Packard machine called "hp3".
| Machine: | hp3 | kamadhenu |
| 1 processor | 124 minutes | 123 minutes |
| 2 processors | 74 minutes | 65 minutes |
| 3 processors | 52 minutes | 45 minutes |
