Masters Programme in Chemistry




The New Chemistry Unit at JNCASR is offering a two-year Masters Programme in Chemistry  for B.Sc. graduates to pursue main stream chemistry, with an option to specialize in Materials Chemistry or Chemical Biology, which are the frontier areas in Chemistry.

This programme is for two years and includes basic and specialized courses, seminars and research project.

2.1 Eligibility

  1. Applicants possessing a minimum of 55% marks at the Bachelor’s degree in any branch of

Science with Chemistry as a major subject.

Candidates who have qualified the Joint Admissions Test for Masters (JAM) are encouraged to apply


2.2 Selection procedure:

Shortlisted candidates based on fulfilling the eligibility criteria will have to appear for a written test at JNCASR. Based on the performance in the written test, candidates will be called for an interview. Shortlisted JAM candidates may be exempted from the written test and will be called for an interview directly. The final selection is based on the performance in the interview.

Note: Keeping in view the pandemic situation, the selection procedure may be shifted online if necessary.

Tution Fee etc: Fees would be as per the norms of the Centre. Current norms for payment of tuition fees is Rs 5000/- per annum. In addition, Rs 200 as medical charges and group insurance fee of Rs. 25 will be deducted every month.

Scholarship/Fellowship: Scholarship/fellowship will  NOT be paid during this tenure.
