Subhajit Chakraborty pursuing Ph.D.

I was born and brought up in West Bengal, India. I pursued my undergraduation (BSc) from University of Calcutta and postgraduation (MSc) from IIT Kharagpur. I joined the group as a PhD student in September, 2020. My research interest lies in the development of heterogeneous catalyst for CO2 reduction and solid state structural chemistry. Besides that my other interest includes playing cricket, voiceovers, music and crafts new things.

Soumi Mondal pursuing Ph.D.

I have come from Guskara, a small town in West Bengal. I did my schooling in East West Model School in Talit. After completing B.Sc. in Chemistry in Vivekananda Mahavidyalaya in Burdwan, I pursued M.Sc. in Visva-Bharati university, Shantiniketan. To quench the thirst for science, I joined Ph.D. in materials chemistry where I am currently working on catalyst design for its applications in room temperature fuel cells and water splitting. Apart from research, I have an inclination for singing, penning poems and photography.

Devender Goud G pursuing Ph.D.

Currently pursuing Ph.D. under the supervision of Prof. Sebastian C. Peter at New Chemistry Unit, Jawaharlal Nehru Centre For Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR). Received my Integrated MSC degree from the School of Chemistry, University of Hyderabad in 2018. Research interests include the design, synthesis, and characterization of nanostructured materials and their applications in energy storage and conversion.

Bitan Ray pursuing Ph.D.

I joined the group as a Ph.D. student in July 2018. I am currently working in the field of Carbon dioxide capture, and its utilization towards value-added products via thermochemical pathway. My research interest involves heterogeneous catalysis, and gas phase reaction in both flow reactor as well as batch reactor. I have completed my post-graduation from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad in 2018 and graduation from Hooghly Mohsin College in 2016. Favourite pastime includes music and literature. Love to explore new places and new cultures.

Risov Das pursuing Ph.D.

I was born and raised in a beautiful village of West Bengal and studied Chemistry at Narendrapur Ramkrishna Mission Kolkata and IIT Madras. I developed an early interest in heterogeneous catalysis and solid-state chemistry and my Ph.D. studies in SCP group focused on 'Sunlight driven CO2 hydrogenation to fuels by heterogeneous photocatalysts.’ I subsequently worked on several classes of oxide, sulfide, halide perovskite, and carbon based polymeric photocatalysts. I also try to unwrap the electron transfer and product formation mechanism by several in-situ and ex-situ spectroscopic techniques. I love to travel with my friends.

Ashutosh Kumar Singh pursuing Int. Ph.D. (Materials Science)

Currently, the electronic industry facing the major challenge, of getting heated upon the use of devices, and there is a need for the development of alternative materials. So, interested in the field of materials science and condensed matter physics—expertise in the growth of single-crystal and structural determination using single-crystal XRD and working on Rare-earth based intermetallics and heavy metal chalcogenides for their electronic and magnetic properties for application in industry.

My hobbies are playing the volleyball, table-tennis, cricket and following the current affairs around the world.

Debabrata Bagchi pursuing Ph.D.

I was born and raised at Karimpur in West Bengal. I completed my B. Sc. at Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira, Belur Math and pursued M. Sc. from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. The quest for science I developed since my childhood instigated me to invest my entire career in exploring the mysteries of science. This urged me to opt for doing Ph.D. in Chemistry, specifically in materials chemistry where the implementation is towards the benevolent nature. Currently, I am working on designing catalyst materials and mechanistic investigation for electrochemical conversion of carbon dioxide to valuable fuels and chemicals. Besides research, I love playing cricket and watching movies.

Arjun C H pursuing Ph.D.

I received my B.S.c Chemistry degree from Kannur University, Kerala in 2013 and completed his M.Sc. degree from the National Institute of Technology, Karnataka in 2015. I joined Professor Sebastian C. Peter’s group at JNCASR in July 2016 after the qualifying National Level exam (UGC-JRF). My research interest includes designing and screening of catalyst for carbon dioxide hydrogenation to fuels and value-added products. My hobbies include reading book and playing badminton.

Nilutpal Dutta pursuing Ph.D.

I am from Assam. I have completed by B.Sc. from Tezpur University, Assam and completed my M.Sc. from IIT Hyderabad. My passion to learn the subject and doing research motivated me to pursue PhD in chemistry. I have joined the group in September 2021 after qualifying CSIR-JRF. Besides the passion for chemistry, I love to play football and travel with my friends
