R D Assistant in Chronobiology and Behavioural Neurogenetics Laboratory
Remuneration: Rs. 22,610/- (Without NET/GATE), Rs. 29,750/- (With NET/GATE) plus 27% HRA
Essential Qualification: MSc Degree in Biology with at least 6–7 years of experience in conducting studies using Drosophila populations, ability to independently carry out genetic crosses and immunohistochemical studies.
Job Responsibilities:
Independently maintain Drosophila cultures of various species, strains, and mutant lines.
Prepare medium and other materials required for cultures.
Identify different species of Drosophilids.
Independently carry out genetic crosses required for specific assays.
Conduct fine dissections of fly tissues and perform immunohistochemical analyses.
Carry out behavioural assays including locomotor activity rhythms, sleep, sleep-induction, and disruption assays.
Assist in teaching laboratory courses in fly genetics, behaviour, and neuroanatomy of invertebrates and vertebrates, including preparation of demonstration materials and related resources.
Note: Due to the nature of the projects, the assistant must be able to commute to the laboratory and conduct experiments on holidays and during late hours depending on the specific experiment.
