R&D Assistant in Chronobiology and Behavioural Neurogenetics Laboratory:
Remuneration: Rs.22,610/- (No NET/GATE), Rs.29,750/- (With NET/GATE) plus 27% HRA
Essential Qualification: MSc in Biology with 6-7 years of experience in conducting studies using Drosophila populations.
Candidates should have the ability to independently perform genetic crosses and immunohistochemical studies.
Job Responsibilities:
Independently maintain Drosophila cultures of various species, strains, and mutant lines.
Prepare medium and other necessary materials for cultures.
Identify different species of Drosophilids.
Conduct genetic crosses required for specific assays.
Perform fine dissections of fly tissues and immunohistochemical analyses.
Conduct behavioural assays, including locomotor activity rhythms, sleep studies, and sleep-induction and disruption assays.
Assist in teaching laboratory courses related to fly genetics, behaviour, invertebrate and vertebrate neuroanatomy.
Prepare materials required for demonstrations and course-related activities.
Note: Due to the nature of the projects, the assistant may need to work on holidays or during late hours based on experimental requirements.
