Some Points to Remember about Ragging
What Constitutes Ragging?
Ragging constitutes one or more of the following acts:

Any conduct by students, whether spoken, written, or through actions, that
teases, mistreats, or handles a fresher or any other student with
rudeness.

Engaging in rowdy or undisciplined activities that cause or are likely to
cause annoyance, hardship, or psychological harm to a fresher or any other
student.

Compelling a student to perform acts they would not ordinarily do, leading
to embarrassment, shame, or distress, impacting their mental or physical
well-being.

Actions by senior students that disrupt the regular academic activities of
a fresher or any other student.

Forcing freshers or other students to undertake academic tasks assigned to
another individual or group.

Acts of financial extortion or burdening a fresher or other students with
unnecessary expenses.

Any form of physical abuse, including sexual abuse, stripping, obscene
gestures, or causing harm to personal health and safety.

Verbal abuse, emails, public insults, or any act deriving sadistic
pleasure from humiliating a fresher or another student.

Any act that damages the mental health or self-confidence of a fresher or
other student, either for personal enjoyment or to assert dominance.
Ragging is not harmless fun
At JNCASR, students come from diverse social and cultural backgrounds. What
may seem like harmless fun to some could be a serious indignity to others.
Ragging is a punishable offense.
