Research Interest

During my PhD, I worked on how the coupling of phonons with charge and spin (a) stabilizes exotic phases such as excitonic insulators and quantum spin liquids and (b) gives rise to functional properties such as piezoelectricity, ferroelectricity, and magnetism. I conducted these investigations using first-principles density functional theory (DFT) and density functional perturbation theory (DFPT). Occasionally, I used low-energy effective Hamiltonians to derive microscopic insights into the phenomena and systems under study. Symmetry-based phonon analysis has been central to some of my work, particularly in understanding structural transitions and ferroelectricity.
