Prof. A. Sundaresan completed his Ph. D. (1988- 94) from IIT, Bombay, and later he joined Laboratoire CRISMAT, ISMRa, Caen, France (1995-97) as a Post Doctoral fellow followed by a Researcher position at LEPES - CNRS, Grenoble, France (1998- 99) and JST - CREST, NeRI, AIST, Tsukuba Central 2, Tsukuba, Japan (1999- 2004). He joined JNCASR as a faculty fellow in 2004 and now he is Chair of the Chemistry & Physics of Materials Unit. His primary research interest lies in solid-state chemistry and physics. Preparation and characterization of various inorganic oxide materials of both academic interest and technologically required properties. Experimental techniques involve solid-state and chemical routes of synthesis, structural characterization (x-ray, neutron, and electron diffraction), and physical property measurements (magnetic, electrical transport, photoluminescence, and ferroelectrics). The aim is to design new materials which exhibit a correlation between structural, magnetic, luminescence, and electrical properties.
