“Legacy of Scientific and Educational Visionaries: A Tribute to Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee”
The Education Technology Unit, JNCASR, conducted a Science Outreach Programme on 21st August 2025 to commemorate the 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee. Around 40 students and 4 coordinators from Assam, participated in the event under the Assam Science Technology and Environment Council (ASTEC) initiative “Mukhya Mantrir Bigyan Pratibha Sandhan – Bigyan Darshan.” The programme was facilitated in collaboration with the Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST), Bengaluru.
A special lecture was presented by Mr. A. N. Jayachandra, Coordinator (Special Projects), JNCASR about the life and legacy of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, highlighting his contributions to education, science, and national unity. The students were actively engaged in Q&A session with the speaker.
The programme concluded with guided visits to research laboratories at JNCASR, providing students with an opportunity to interact with scientists and learn about ongoing research activities. This outreach initiative successfully fulfilled the objectives of the commemorative campaign by fostering awareness about Dr. Mookerjee’s contributions and inspiring scientific curiosity among young minds.




Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) organized series of events for International Yoga Day on 21 June 2025 on this year's theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”.
A mass Yoga Sangam was organized within the campus in line with live streaming of Hon’ble Prime Minister’s mass yoga programme from 6.45 am to 7.45 am., large number of students and staff of the centre participated in the event.
A lecture cum demonstration of yoga was conducted in the Kanada Auditorium at the campus. The certified yoga teacher and exponent shri. Anand guruji, Patanjali Yoga Centre, demonstrated the asanas and educated on the health benefits of yoga. The students of the centre Ms. Sucheta Biswas, NCU; Mr. Prahlad, TSU; Mr. Sounak Mondal, NCU; and Ms. Neha, CPMU have demonstrated basic and advanced postures of yoga asanas under the guidance of shri Ananda guruji and received appreciation and applause.
Over 100 members of the JNCASR community including Prof. Umesh V Waghmare, President, JNCASR and Shri. Joydeep Deb, Administrative Officer, faculty members, Students, and Staff members participated in the event.
We are honoured to receive the YOGA SANGAM PATRA from the Ministry of Ayush, recognizing as a proud organizer of yoga demonstration on the IDY 2025.


Delighted to welcome Prof. Umesh V. Waghmare, Professor & Dean, Faculty Affairs, JNCASR, who took over the charge as the new President of JNCASR. He assumed office on 11 June 2025. Prof. G.U. Kulkarni handed over charge to Prof. Waghmare at the President’s Office.

On the occasion of World Environment Day celebration on 5th June 2025, Saplings were planted to encourage the initiative of ‘Keep the Earth clean and green.’ and inculcate an environmental consciousness in our community. Officers, Students, Staff, and kids participated in the event.
INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY (IWD) - 2025 CELEBRATION AT
JAWAHARLAL NEHRU CENTRE FOR ADVANCED SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH (JNCASR),
BENGALURU
THEME: "FOR ALL WOMEN AND GIRLS: RIGHTS, EQUALITY, EMPOWERMENT"
- Marathon: A run was organized on March 08, 2025, to celebrate International Women's Day 2025. A total of approximately 50 women members (including faculty members, staff, their children, and students) of the Centre participated in the event.
- Talk: A talk titled "Science, Gender, and the Power of Change" was organized on March 10, 2025. It aimed to address gender-based equality issues in the sphere of teaching and research by Professor Prita Pant of IIT Bombay. The professor addressed whether gender equality is still a goal or has been achieved. If not, what is the path ahead to bring gender parity? The talk was attended by the faculty members, officers, staff, and students of the Centre.
- Pot Painting Competition: This was organized at the Centre on March 10, 2025, to mark International Women's Day, with huge participation from the members of the Centre.
- Women in Nanoscience: One of our JNCASR students, Ms. Surabhi Menon (first author of a research paper published in RSC Nanoscale), along with Prof. Umesh V. Waghmare from the Theoretical Sciences Unit, was highlighted in this year's celebratory collection of Nanoscience publications by the Royal Society of Chemistry. Released on International Women's Day 2025, the collection showcases excellent women conducting research in nanoscience.





On March 5, 2025, Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), an autonomous Institute functioning under the aegis of Department of Science & Technology and a deemed-to-be University, participated in the Post-Budget Webinar on "Investing in People" with participation from the President, JNCASR, Deans, Faculty Members, Officers Research Scholars, and Students.





As part of the celebration of Matribhasha Diwas at the Centre on 21st February 2025, an Essay Competition was conducted for the members of the Centre on the theme "Talent and Ability Development through Mother Tongue" – emphasizing the role of language in fostering creativity, intellect, and personal growth.
The cash prizes were announced for the winners of the competition.

The refurbishing of Administrative block is completed, and the Accounts Establishment units will be shortly relocated.



The Dhanvantari (Health Centre) e-platform software was declared opened to use by Prof. G U Kulkarni President JNCASR on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.
1.Doctors can generate prescription online and access any/ all medical records of the patient at the Centre.
2.Nurses have access to all prescriptions.
3.Lab technicians can upload the test reports.
4.Users of Dhanvantari can access their medical records from anywhere and at anytime.
