Vishal Rajesh Lolam pursuing Integrated Ph.D

Joined JNCASR as an Integrated Ph.D. student of the School of Biological Science in 2020, and as the first graduate student of Neurodevelopment Lab since July 2022.

I come from the "city that never sleeps", now a resident of "Namma Bengaluru". I started my Ph.D. Journey trying to understand the development of the brain. It kind of amazes me that how a single cell can eventually develop into an entire organism and I would like to delve into the different mechanisms that regulate these processes.
When I'm not doing science, I enjoy playing cricket and watching movies which keep me alive in the journey. I also like reading detective books, because I believe that a Ph.D. student and a detective have no differences, as research entails solving nature's mysteries!!

Hi! I’m from Jodhpur popularly known as the ‘Blue city’. I did my BSc in biotechnology from Lachoo Memorial College of Science and Technology, Jodhpur, and MSc in Biotechnology from Rajiv Gandhi Centre of Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram. An internship during my undergrad evoked my interest in the field of scientific research.

We work and think because of our brain, but the complexities of the brain have been an enigma for centuries. In my PhD, I shall be looking at cerebellar development and related disorders.

Apart from academics, I enjoy hiking and chilling with friends and family to destress myself.
