बायोइलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स, सॉफ्ट इलेक्ट्रॉनिक सबस्ट्रेट्स पर न्यूरॉन्स, सेल-नेटवर्क और रेटिनल सिस्टम का अध्ययन

Soft-electronic polymers in the biomedical arena exhibit utility in tissue engineering and vision prosthetic elements. Our laboratory examines many aspects of this important research topic. A recent breakthrough from our lab is in the area of interfacing organic electronics with visual systems, specifically: “Organic optoelectronic structures as artificial visual elements for a blind retina.”

Interfacing biological systems with electronic components enhances the possibility of repairing and restoring various physiological processes. Recent studies have highlighted the efficacy of polymer semiconductors as artificial receptors for interfacing with the visual system.

We now collaborate extensively with biophysicists, electrical engineers, neurophysiologists, and ophthalmologists to translate our preliminary lab demonstrations into more in-depth in vitro and in vivo studies. Our ultimate goal is to develop a polymer-based retina as a potential solution for visual-retinal disorders.
