Project Associate I (equivalent to R&D Assistant)
Remuneration Rs 31,000/- + HRA to Scholars who are selected through (a)
National EligibilityTests (ii) Rs 25,000/- + HRA for others who do not fall under (i) above.
Essential Qualification: MSc Degree Biology with at least 1 year experience in carrying out studies using Drosophila populations, ability to independently carry out genetic crosses and immunohistochemical studies, specially related to fly egg laying behaviours. Experience in fabricating experimental arenas and developing pipelines for analyses of images or videos.
Job responsibilities: Independently maintain Drosophila cultures of various species, strains and mutant lines. Prepare medium and other material required for cultures. Independently carry out genetic crosses required for specific assays. Carry out fine dissections of fly tissues and immunohistochemical analyses. Carry out behavioural assays including locomotor activity rhythms and oviposition assays.
Due to the nature of the project, depending on the specific experiment at hand, the assistant must be able to commute to the laboratory and conduct experiments on holidays and at late hours of the day.
