Advertisement for Short-Term Training Course on Laboratory Diagnosis of
COVID-19
COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, leading to
severe respiratory illness. The ongoing pandemic has significantly increased
the demand for testing, but there is a severe shortage of trained personnel to
conduct specialized diagnostic tests.
To help strengthen national capacity in COVID-19 diagnostics, the
COVID Diagnostic Training Centre has been established at the
Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), an autonomous institute under the
Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India
(www.jncasr.ac.in). The
Centre is offering an intensive training program in molecular clinical
diagnostics.
Applications are invited from Indian nationals for a
five-day (Monday to Friday) residential training course
designed to provide both theoretical knowledge and hands-on expertise in
molecular biology techniques and BSL-2 workflow.
The training does not require handling of live SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Upon completion, trainees will gain proficiency in molecular diagnostic assays
applicable to clinical settings.
| Eligibility |
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in MLT (Medical Laboratory Technology)
with a minimum of 60% aggregate score or equivalent CGPA.

Not more than 40 years as of 01.04.2020. |
| Subsistence Allowance |
Free boarding & lodging will be provided, along with a subsistence
allowance of Rs. 5,000 for selected candidates.

A course completion certificate fee of Rs. 1,000/- will be
charged upon successful completion of the training. Interested candidates must
submit an application in the prescribed format (Annexure ‘I’), along with a
statement of interest (maximum 100 words) explaining their
motivation for enrolling in this course. The application should be sent via
