International Winter School-2022: "Frontiers in Materials Science"
The International Winter School-2022, "Frontiers in Materials Science", is aimed at
introducing frontier areas of research in materials science to graduate students, young researchers,
and scientists with a background in physics, chemistry, and engineering.
Topics Covered
The Winter School will cover topics including:
- Chemistry and physics of transition-metal oxides and their functional properties
- Methods of high-pressure, chemical, and topo-chemical synthesis of materials
- Spin ordering in crystals and magnetism
- Functional and quantum materials
- Microstructures and nano-scale heterostructures
- Energy storage, conversion, and transport
- Corrosion and electrochemistry of materials for energy storage in batteries
- Ion transport, catalysis, porous solids, and metal-organic frameworks
- Magnetoresistance and two-dimensional materials
- Femto-scale processes, spectroscopy, and material characterization techniques
- Quantum dots, molecular magnets, and molecular electronics
- Structural and computational biology
- Soft materials, theoretical and computational quantum chemistry
- Materials science and computer simulations
Lectures and Participation
One-hour lectures by leading scientists will provide a pedagogic overview of background concepts and emerging ideas in
materials science. These lectures will also include cutting-edge research examples from the speakers' work.
Active participation from students and young researchers is strongly encouraged through poster and
oral presentations, along with frequent interactions with the speakers.
