R&D Assistant
Remuneration Rs. 33,320/- plus 30% HRA
Essential Qualification: MSc/MTech Degree Biology with at least 6-7 years experience in carrying out studies using Drosophila populations, ability to independently carry out genetic crosses and immunohistochemical studies
Job responsibilities: Independently maintain Drosophila cultures of various species, strains and mutant lines. Prepare medium and other material required for cultures. Identify different species of Drosophilids. Independently carry out genetic crosses required for specific assays. Carry out fine dissections of fly tissues and immunohistochemical analyses. Carry out behavioural assays including locomotor activity rhythms, sleep, sleep-induction and -disruption assays. Assist in teaching of laboratory course in fly genetics, behaviour ; invertebrate and vertebrate neuroanatomy, including preparation of requirements for demonstrations and related course materials.
Due to the nature of the projects, depending on the specific experiment at hand, the assistant must be able to commute to the laboratory and conduct experiments on holidays and at late hours of the day.
