Sheeba Vasu completed doctoral research at the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) in 2002. She was a post-doctoral fellow at the Dept of Neurobiology, UMASS Medical School, and Dept of Biology, New York University and an Associate Specialist at Dept of Physiology and Biophysics at UC Irvine between 2002 and 2008.
She joined JNCASR as a Ramanujan Fellow in 2009 and started the Behavioural Neurogenetics Laboratory. In 2014 she joined as Faculty Fellow of the newly constituted Neuroscience Unit. Currently, she heads the Chronobiology and Behavioural Neurogenetics Laboratory whose research goals are two-fold – understanding evolutionary trajectories of circadian clocks and the neuronal underpinnings of rhythmic behaviours using a variety of populations of Drosophilids.
